Oct 11, 05 - Update

We have completed phase one of our disaster relief. The response from the church has been outstanding. Our three adopted families have all returned home and have started rebuilding their lives. Camp Cordova will close on October 10. The final thing needed is volunteers to help clean up the camp on October 11; if you can help please call Orvie Cotten or Billy Cox. Many thanks to all of you who have given of your time and finances; Mike Day has stated that the camp would not have been as successful as it was without Trinity.

The task force recommended to the finance committee that we donate from our local missions fund to assist with feeding those staying at the camp. The committee approved our request and the funds were sent to Mid-South Baptist Association.

We will now start phase two which is follow up with our adopted families and adopting a church that was destroyed by Katrina. We are working with the North American Mission Board and Mike Day to locate a church that needs our assistance. Our intent is to assist in rebuilding and helping with Thanksgiving Celebrations and Christmas. We want to reach out to the children who have endured so many traumas and be certain they have some joy this year. We will report to you when we have located a church and also update you on our adopted families. A current update on our families is listed below.

Georgia & Hanna Parker: Georgia and Hanna returned home on September 27. They arrived safely and many gift cards, snacks, and other items provided by David & Lynn Tillman’s Sunday School class. Georgia’s teaching job began Oct. 3. They are staying with Georgia’s mother because their home is still without electricity. Georgia’s e-mail address is parker_1@bellsouth.net. Thanks to Debbie Henderson who was and continues to be our link with this family. She will keep us updated on the Parker’s progress.

Moran and McClain Families: The McClain’s are all doing well. They moved into their own RV this past weekend. The children will start school October 12. Lee’s house is a total loss, it is worse than expected. As for the Moran’s, Shannon went back to work Monday. They are staying with her sister-in-law. Both families are grateful for all the love and help Trinity provided. Billy Cox and Vikki Coker provided contact with this family. They did a super job and will keep in contact with this family.

Charvella Jefferson Family: Charvella had been hoping to find an apartment and relocate here, but got a call from FEMA to come home this past Thursday to have her home inspected. She then decided to go home and not return to Memphis. All her family is now home. Charvella wanted to thank the church for all they did for her family. Rachel Roberts is our connection with this family and will keep us updated on their progress.

Thanks again for the love you gave these families. Many of them had not attended church in a long time. God used this situation and each of you to help bring these individuals back to church.
